I met the musical Ian years ago at KCRW when I was interning there, and he played at Mick Fleetwood’s wedding which I covered for the Malibu paper. He’s the first person who I ever heard use the word mojo, as in “I got my mojo workin’.” I had no idea what it meant. He was kind enough not to call me an idiot.
I interviewed Ian a couple of weeks ago and have been reading his latest book, “Letters from Lotusland” with many Altadena references with great delight, but haven’t gotten all my thoughts about it written up. So while I get that completed, don’t miss the opportunity to buy the book at Vroman’s tonight and have him sign it.

When I was a teenager his hits “You Turn Me On” and “N-E-R-V-O-U-S” were part of my collection of 45s, which I still have in a box somewhere. I’ll have to dig that out someday.
I was thrilled at the opportunity to meet him and his wife Regina a few years ago at a soirée at the Castle Green and have had the occasion to chat with him from time to time when I’ve seen him around town.
A delightful man!
